busy bee...

with having my laptop quit on me, I was able to get some much needed orginazing done.  first, my sewing space.  I had been so crazy lately that my space was, well, not working anymore.  I have a fairly small house and don't necessarily have a "craft room" so to speak, instead my entire living space downstairs becomes my "sewing space" and sometimes that can be overwhelming for the mister.  so... I reorganized and I vow to keep it that way. {ask me in a month for another picture to make sure I stuck with it mm'kay}

I organized all my fabrics by color and type, put all my sewing tools in a specified area, my shipping supplies and ready to ship orders have a bin, and all my notions, trims, ribbons, etc are organized in bins in the lower cabinets.  I think this is going to help me be more efficient and also, well, its so pretty to look at.  oh, and those 2 huge blue bins, those are chalk full of scraps, too pretty to throw away, scraps.  I need to find a good project to use them on... if you have a good scrap project, send it my way!!!

you know your a total geek when you get this excited about your fabric stash, isn't it just perdy??   {see this fabric in the right bottom corner??? this will become my very first quilt, and I can't wait to get started on it}

the other day, my bestie molly sent me a link to a "bloggie book."  it had great information on keeping your blog ideas organized and even had some printables for FREE.  so I hopped to it, bought a bright pink binder and printed off these awesome sheets, and voila, an organized blog book.  it has a place for me to write out my weeks posts, to-do lists, blog parties I want to attend, and even ideas for next week.  then I created tabs for projects, tutorials, ideas, inspiration and a whole stack of college ruled notebook paper to doodle and jot ideas down.  want to make your own blog book?? check out the awesome post here

and last order of business... probably the most important to continue my blogging and my "online" store, I bought a new laptop.  I love it...

my daugter always has a way of finding herself in my pics.. and wel,l she usually makes them sweeter... see those little monkey pajama legs in the screen? so funny!  so here's to more blogging, etsy-ing, pinning, twittering.. 

now, I just need a laptop bag. april showers... bring may {flowered dresses}

ok friends... a few things I'm loving right now.  one-that peachy, neutral color that is going around in blouses and pumps. {love} two-navy blue and turquoise together. three-floral prints... are you with me? I hope so because I just finished 2 new designs and well, I love them and hope you will too...

I came across this trim and lace and voila.. a vision! with a mixture of the three things I'm loving right now.
it's funny how my mind works when an idea starts brewing, because it won't turn off again until everything is all planned out, from colors, style, name, to photo shoot.  {a little neurotic?} I can't help it, mm'kay?

I fell in love with this floral print and really wanted to bring out the fushcia pink and that peachy color...

and I loved the blues in this print and the pleated trim...

I just loved this contrasting serging of white on the pink... yes, sometimes I get just as excited about the inside of the get-up as the outside..















my favorite part of designing lovelies is admiring the finished product. I always find a hanger and the nearest spot to hang it up, then I step back and take a good look.. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but in this case, I think they turned out nice.

I can't wait to send these dresses to the most adorbsy littles, pics to come soon {real pictures, from an actual photographer}. I'm super excited for the shoot and even more excited for what's to come with these dresses... {hint, hint, giveaway perhaps}

oh, and I almost forgot, here is a little peak.

my handmade biz... the pink jellybean

alrighty folks, so I have a side to me, a very creative side.  I have always loved to throw parties and sew gifts for my friends and cook {a little} but I wasn't getting to be creative enough. So, after having my daughter, I found myself searching on etsy {sometimes for hours, yes I am addicted to etsy} and seeing all this lovely and thinking I wish I could find... fill in the blank.  so, I pulled out my cheap-o sewing machine {I have upgraded since then} and got busy.  my mom is an excellent seamstress, so I would think up these little frocks and she would say "lets do it like this, or why are you sewing it here, try this"  we make a good team...

thus, the pink jellybean was born.  I never, ever in my wildest dreams would have guessed that it would turn into something, anything at all.  I still get nervous, making something, I'm always wondering "will people even like this" but so far, well, you have.  and I have lovely fans, and they have lovely little girls and I enjoy dressing them in my designs.

I'm hoping that this blog, will not only keep you up-to-date on my little growing family, but my little growing {I hope} business as well.  I will hope to share with you all of my creative thoughts and maybe even some tutorials as well as my fav tutorials I have found online and tried. 

a few question and answers... {I get these a lot}
Where in the world did you learn to sew?
well, that's simple, I took 4 sewing classes my senior year of high school on top of at least one every other year that I was in high school.  I had 4 electives to take, so I took them all with my fav teacher and coach {love ya, B}, I helped organize a fashion show for my clothing construction class, I was in to it big.  at the time, I just loved doing it, I never thought that it would come in handy down the road.
What kind of machine and/or serger do you use?
I love my viking machine and brother serger!! love...
How do you balance having an 18 month old and keeping up with the pinkjellybean
at times it can be tough, but for the most part I try to sew while she's sleeping.. nap time or late at night {remember I work nights so it's not uncommon for me to stay up half the night sewing because I just can't sleep}
where do you buy your fabric??
I'll never tell ;)  I love fabric, maybe even a bit addicted to it as well.  I love unusual parings and have my favorite designers.  I love this one particular fabric store in a town nearby.. I'm serious, I get giddy the whole hour drive there.. yes I'm a fabric nerd!!
how do you come up with your designs
it usually hits me just the time I lay down for the night.  I come up with an idea and then can't stop. my mind starts racing and another sleepless night {seeing a trend here?? yea, I don't sleep}
